All of Monarch’s Egress Windows and Wells meet the current 2006 International Residential Code (IRC) requirements.

NOTE: It is the responsibility of the owner, architect, contractor and or builder to select products that comply with applicable, state and local building codes and that is appropriate for the application and use. A Local Building Permit is typically required.

Since 2000, the IRC has required that every basement sleeping room have at least one operable window with a clear opening of 5.7 square feet to act as an egress window (escape window) in the event of an emergency. The code also requires that the maximum allowable distance from the floor to the window sill is no more than 44 inches in order to be acceptable as an emergency escape or egress window.

This code also requires an egress window well that has a minimum of 9 square foot of surface area and a 36 inch minimum projection off the surface of the foundation. Any egress window well that is deeper than 44" must have either a ladder or steps to allow safe egress.

Monarch’s Egress Window Systems feature wells with built-in steps or ladders so homeowners can escape quickly and easily in case of a fire, flood, tornado or other life-threatening emergency.

Window/Window Well Systems Our 4'x4' Garden Step Picture Window and Garden Step™ Landscape Well meet all 2006 International Residential Code (IRC) requirements. They are available in a vinyl pour-in-place frame system or steel frame with a vinyl or aluminum insert.

Window Wells We provide bolt-on and wrap-around options available in our proprietary Stif Back II™ or Deluxe Straight.  Our Quarry View fiberglass window well is a gorgeous egress system option that offers the home owner an alternative to the steel well.

 Windows We produce sliders, hoppers and casement windows available in aluminum and vinyl. NFRC Certified. Available with LoE, Argon Gas Filled. Several grille options available.

 Bucks, Frames and Inserts We offer full-wall-width and pour-in-place available in aluminum, steel or vinyl.

 Vents Select our Foundation Venting System made in steel or our Thermostatically Controlled Vent made in vinyl.

 Ladders, Grates and Covers Choose our Thermal Hinge Cover with a hinged latch for ventilation and egress. In addition, we provide several sizes of steel grates and ladders.
